Juletraditioner i Danmark

Christmas is coming and by that I would like to write about traditions in Denmark.

Wither is coming, and the weather will turn into snow and just be a very cold season. Many people would say that this is the most hated season but then not, cause the most loved month is in Winter and yes it is; December. A magical time as described in books and films. Therefore, i would set up this question; Why Christmas?

Yes, why are we doing this one time a year; spending our money and time, being with our most loved persons around us more than we do at any time at the year? A leading answer would be the beginning of something beautiful; Jesus. He is the main reason for Christmas and in Denmark we are celebrating it on the date go 24th of December, while other people do it on the 25th December. To adore this holiday is what I do. Christmas has been a beloved time since I was born. Special things happen on that time and love is growing, and new love begins. An importuned thing around that time is holiday films. My favorite is The Grinch. Just because I had it on VHS, and I saw it even if I had summer vacation.. I was obsessed with it. There are tons of great movies to precisely this time of the year. Another great one is Love Actually, which is about many pairs who end up together in the end. A typical love story and what I truly like about is the location; London. This year after I have spent Christmas with my family home in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am taken a flight to London, and I am going to stay there for a week, to attend my British friend Susan's birthday.

"As that creep, I am I have high expectations when it comes to London if you know what I mean; The Ed Westwick dream still lives..."

The most important tradition for me on the 24th December is to read the Nativity of Jesus out loud in my local church in front of 400 people. It is a lovely thing to do, and I may say my performance fear are long gone after this speech out to the local people. After that me and my family are going home to eat the lovely food! (I don't like food, I LOVE food...) In Denmark, the traditional Christmas meal served on December 24 consists of roast pork with crackling  or duck. The meat is served along with boiled potatoes (some of which are caramelized, some roasted), red cabbage, and plenty of gravy. It is followed with a dessert of Risalamande, which is a rice pudding served with cherry sauce.  Often with a whole almond hidden inside. The lucky finder of the almond of which is entitled to an extra present, the almond gift. Christmas drinks are Gløgg/Glühwein, hot chocolate with whipped cream and traditional Christmas beers, specially brewed for the season. These usually have high alcohol content.

After a magnificent meal, it is time to dance around the beautifully decorated christmas tree and sing christmas carols When the singing is complete, presents which are tucked under the tree, are handed out by the children and the evening thereby goes with snacks, drinks and being with the people we love, that is the thing about christmas!

Lots of happiness
